Youth Program Registration 2020-21

This registration is for students in grades 7-12. Registrations are crucial for staff so that they can most effectively lead and keep your student safe.

Master Medical Form

All youth who participate in our program are required to complete a Master Form prior to their attendance at any offsite event. To access a copy of the form click here.

This form will be kept on file with the church for the program year 2020-2021. If your insurance card is on file from last year and has not changed you do not need to turn in a copy. If you are new to our program or if insurance information has changed please submit a copy of the front and back of your card to the church office by Sept. 30, 2020.

Program Descriptions

Please note that we are offering both Virtual and In person options for our programs. Any In person offerings will 0bserve our all church protocols for in-person, physically distanced meetings according to FUMC's "Protocols and Guidelines for Church Building Use and In-Person Events."

Learning:

Confirm:  Confirmation class for students in grades 7 & 8. This class meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 each week to explore what it means to claim an identity in faith and to grow in knowledge of the Bible, the church and this community.  This class will meet on Zoom AND we plan to offer quarterly small group gatherings outdoors weather permitting.  

Connect:  Sunday morning class for High school youth. This class will meet at 11:30 Sunday mornings- P.J.'s are the dress code. Weekly exploration of scripture, learning about justice, exploring faith practices and looking at our world through a theological lens. This class will meet on Zoom with options for safe, socially distanced monthly meet ups. 

Serving: 

In Person:  We will offer quarterly opportunities for service projects. Examples of projects are Packing Diapers, Beach Clean Up, packing lunches for Evanston Agencies and helping with local Food Drives. 

Virtual/At Home: quarterly projects will also be offered virtually. These will include helping with younger children's classes, writing letters and cards, tutoring, and making fleece blankets for shelters and agencies. 

Connecting: 

Journey- high school small group.  All high students are welcome to join this gathering on Wednesdays from 6:30—7:30 pm. We will start with dinner that is provided (packed individually from a local restaurant- or bring your own) , then spend time in community listening to each other and reflecting on the places we encounter God in our daily lives. Fall dates: September 9 and 23,  October 7 and 21.  Come and take a break from your week and Journey with this community. We will meet on the Church street steps and walk to a park.  

Middle School Youth Group- for all students in grades 6-8.  This group will meet monthly starting in October.  Either Friday evening or Sunday late afternoon. 

For Families! 

Connecting Families with Youth to other families with Youth:) 

Family Fellowship Groups: Beginning October and meeting one Sunday late afternoon each month. Youth and Parents will gather to socialize and connect in small groups through stories, music, at-home spiritual practices, and service opportunities designed to build on Sunday morning lessons and activities. These Small groups will meet for one hour on Zoom, with options for in-person, physically distanced meetings according to FUMC's "Protocols and Guidelines for Church Building Use and In-Person Events." Exact dates and times TBD.  We need host families! All resources and study materials will be provided.
